This is the latest version of the pattern and it’s a prime example of “we learn from our mistakes” because boy, did I get it wrong! I made the hip area so small I have to leave the zipper undone and covered by my shirt for this photo. Wanna see the video of me making

If you’ve watched and of my trailers here or full videos on YouTube, you know these two. They’re temperamental, we get in fights and they’re surprisingly good at giving me the silent treatment. Yet, I love them and they’re family. Also, I’m only posting this to appease them.

For the last two weeks, I’ve been working on creating a new pants pattern. I created the initial one based on the Rundschau method for men’s trousers. It’s definitely an improvement on my old pattern but still not perfect. This week, I took everything I’ve learned so far and made a new, slightly modified pant pattern.

So I took that pattern from last week and made a sample pair of pants, strictly for the fit. This photo makes them look good but they’ve got issues. There’s some weird pulling / pinch in the crotch area … hence this side angle. Of course I filmed the process.

Last week I made a brand new pants pattern. I based it on the Rundschau method which turned out to be quite technical.

This week, I started by going to the thrift store and picking up some fabric and then made a basic sample pair from said pattern. Surprise, surprise, it wasn’t perfect. I adjusted the pants to get them closer and tried them on again.

By the end of the day, I had a pair of pants that are close to satisfactory, but not close enough so … tune in next week when I try again.

This past week, I focused on making a basic pattern for pants and … this is it. As you can tell by the squiggly lines, I don’t exactly know what I’m doing and because I’m learning, I made it out of old flyers patched together with electrical tape. Yeah.

Over the last month or so, this little garden of mine has been making an appearance in my videos. Some of the plants have been thriving, others are struggling a bit while others are late bloomers, literally. However, I haven’t gone completely crazy and started naming the plants like I have my mannequins. I am

I have a pattern for pants & shorts, but as I’m learning how to sew, I realize that it is not very good so I am going back to the drawing board … literally.

This week I focused my efforts on creating a new pattern tailored specifically to me, from scratch. I used the Rundschau drafting / cutting system for trousers. Sounds fancy, huh? I thought so too.

I’m thinking somewhere along the Mediterranean, fresh bread and some cheeses. Maybe snag some grapes from a vineyard and head down to the beach where there is slightly less waves then in this illustration. Also, I made this shirt.
